Assessment Criteria:
Written exams for each section of the Tajweed Al-Musawwar book
A comprehensive final exam with a minimum passing score of 80%
Graded recitation exams after completing 5 Juz’, 15 Juz’, and 25 Juz’, along with a final comprehensive test (minimum passing grade: 80%)
Faculty Assignment:
One dedicated teacher guides students throughout their Quran recitation journey.
Specialized teachers are available for students interested in additional Qira’at (modes of recitation).
This live, instructor-led online course provides an in-depth study of Rewayat Hafs ‘an ‘Asim, focusing on mastery of tajweed and accurate Quranic recitation. Students follow a structured curriculum that includes:
Detailed study of Tajweed Al-Musawwar, an illustrated tajweed guide authored by renowned scholar Imam Dr. Aymen Rushdy Swaeed.
Personalized instruction from an assigned teacher, ensuring individual guidance and progress tracking.
Regular assessments through written and recitation exams to reinforce learning and measure progress.
Opportunities for advanced study, allowing students to pursue additional Qira’at under specialized instructors.
By the end of the program, students will have developed proficiency in proper Quranic recitation, adhering to the rules of tajweed. They will be well-prepared for further studies in advanced Qira’at.
Dr. Yasin Kokoye was born in Halabja, Kurdistan, Iraq, and has dedicated more than 45 years to the field of veterinary medicine. He earned his BVMS (equivalent to a DVM) and a Master of Public Health (MPH), building a distinguished career spanning various areas of veterinary practice. His expertise and contributions to the field have been recognized through his membership in esteemed organizations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). Over the years, he has also published several works in his area of specialization.
Beyond his veterinary career, Dr. Kokoye is deeply committed to Islamic scholarship and education. He holds Sanad (certification) in teaching and certifying full Tajweed, as well as teaching and certifying the Qur’an according to the recitation of Hafs ’an ’Asim.
In addition to his professional and scholarly achievements, Dr. Kokoye has played a vital role in community leadership. He was one of the founders of the Salahadeen Center of Nashville in 1998 and served as the first secretary of its board, leading various committees for special initiatives. His dedication to education and religious studies led him to co-found the Tennessee Iqra’ Academy for Qur’anic Sciences, where he currently serves as its elected President and Director of the Department of Qira’at.
